Cooking Recipe Pumpkin Fig Cookies

Oats, old-fashioned or quick

Brown sugar, firmly packed
3/4 c
Sugar
1/2 c
Shortening
1 ts
Cinnamon
1/2 ts
Nutmeg

Pumpkin, canned or fresh
1 c
Figs, dried; chopped
3/4 c
Walnuts; chopped
1 tb
Orange peel; grated
Directions
Mix and sift flour, salt, baking powder, and soda; stir in oats; set
aside. Cream sugars with shortening and spices; beat in egg. Add
flour mixture alternately with pumpkin. Stir in dried figs, walnuts
and orange peel. Drop by Tablespoons on greased cookie sheets. Bake
at 375 F degrees for about 15 minutes.
